Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina is enjoying a long overdue redevelopment! The Mall, strategically located where Business 17 and Bypass 17 merge, is undergoing renovations including an outdoor courtyard, updates to the floors, ceilings, lighting, seating areas, a complete overhaul of the food court, new parking lots, entrances, and more. Additional lease space will be available, to the tune of over 100,000 square feet, housing two additional large anchor stores, as well as smaller shops. F+F Development acquired the property at the end of 2006 and are expecting the project to be complete in time for 2007 holiday shopping!
The redevelopment will rejuvenate this area, aiding local residents by providing a more convenient shopping mall than Coastal Grand Mall, as well as offering yet another shopping destination for the area’s many tourists. All of the local businesses in the vicinity of the Inlet Square Mall will benefit from the increased traffic to the neighborhood. The area around the redeveloped mall will begin to see an influx of new commercial developments of all kinds, including banks, restaurants, and retail stores.
I have a commercial lot available, conveniently located directly across the street from the Inlet Square Mall on Highway 17 Bypass next to First Federal Bank and Home Depot. With 294 feet of road frontage, totaling 5.88 acres with a little over 2 acres of buildable area, this lot is ideal for many commercial opportunities. Contact me today for more information about this property: 843-424-6900 or email me. Please also visit my Myrtle Beach South Carolina Real Estate website.
On July 24, the Town of Surfside Beach passed a ban on smoking that will take effect on October 1st of this year. The ban will prohibit smoking in all public buildings, thirty feet from building entrances, on beaches, beach walkovers, and in recreational facilities and parks.
The smoking ban has been a hot topic in the Myrtle Beach area, and has polarized those discussing the issue.Already a number of online posts have been popping up from people who say they are going to stay in Surfside on their next trip to the Grand Strand specifically because of the ban. However, local business owners and others are very unhappy about the ban and presented a petition to the Town Council last week with over 600 signatures opposing the ban. They are afraid they will lose business to surrounding areas that allow smoking in bars and restaurants.
I can see both points of view. But I for one would welcome a ban on smoking in Myrtle Beach.I am tired of going out to dinner or to the bars with my wife and friends and coming home smelling like an ash tray.
A study released by well respected D.K. Shifflet & Associates shows Myrtle Beach as the #2 ranked family summer destination in the country, second only to Orlando, Florida! The study, released on Tuesday, August 7th is based on four years of research. It took average length of stay into consideration.Over 70% of visitors to Myrtle Beach stay from 4-7 nights. The top ten looks like this:
I recently read an article in the Sun News written by Jenny Burns titled “Realtors predict upswing ahead.”It goes into detail about the state of our local housing market.
The article states that although sales were down in the second quarter compared to last year, improvement over first quarter numbers allows forecasters to speculate that the worst is behind us and that the market will begin to improve soon!
As a local Realtor, I agree that the market is at the bottom, and sales will start to pick up as sellers become more aware and comfortable with the market.Property values increased drastically in 2005 and 2006, and it has taken some time for sellers to realize that our market will not see that same dramatic appreciation again. It could be as early as 2008 that we begin to see real improvement as sellers become more flexible to lowering asking prices to accommodate the reality of the market.
Outside of our local market, the article also details that sales nationwide have come close to hitting rock bottom. That is great news for the Myrtle Beach area, as many buyers have delayed purchasing homes in our region due to the slow sale of their properties elsewhere.
Interest rates are low, loans are still relatively easy to get, and there is a surplus of property to choose from in Myrtle Beach. This might not be true for much longer!Contact me today to see your dream home or to discuss the perfect real estate investment for you!I look forward to hearing from you.
